Academic Profiling Tests - APT
Comprehensive aptitude assessments for 6 - 16 year olds using an AI-powered platform that compares performance against UK national standards.
The APT can be used to identify learning gaps, demonstrate performance to future schools or monitor academic progress, or even as familiarisation for other reasoning-type tests such as UKiset, ISEB Pretest or 11+ entrance exams.
The Academic Profiling Test (APT) has been created to provide a comprehensive assessment of a student’s academic skills. It is a collaboration between experts in assessment, former headmasters and educationalists, using the highest quality teacher-written test questions and adaptive technology.
The APT is an evaluative measure that can be used to demonstrate performance to future schools or monitor academic progress, or even as familiarisation for other reasoning-type tests such as UKiset, ISEB Pretest or 11+/13+ entrance examinations.
Candidates can be tested from 6 to 16 years old and the assessment tests academic potential by looking at core cognitive skills in English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal processing. The test length differs depending on the candidate's age; younger children (6 - 9) require about 75 minutes to complete the assessment, ages 10 - 13 around 90 minutes, and older students (14 - 16) around 2 hours. We encourage students to take breaks between each module and most modules are around 20 minutes long. Our results provide standard age scores comparing performance against the candidate's peers and provides insight on specific areas to work on.
Fully Adaptive Tests
Question difficulty adapts to the candidate's abilities
APT uses sophisticated banks of teacher-written questions that have been validated and standardised against 10,000s of other students. Our test platform will adapt to each candidate's unique abilities, to ensure the results reflect their skills in relation to other students of the same age, and identifies specific skills within the broader subject areas to work on.
Delivered at home
APT is taken on your own computer or laptop at a time that suits you
We permit APT to be taken at home with supervision from a parent or guardian. The tests are easy to administer and come with clear instructions. All you need is a consistent internet connection, a computer or laptop, a quiet space and about two hours to complete the assessment. Younger candidates have shorter modules, with the whole test taking about 75 minutes.
Clear and comprehensive reporting delivered within 24 hours
APT reports create standardised (age-related) scores allowing you to accurately compare a candidate's performance with other children in the same year group. Our data correlates with other cognitive abilities tests and is directly comparable to CAT or CEM performance. We also provide detailed analysis on which skills need more attention - helping focus effort on the right areas.
